Job description

Hope Clinic is seeking an additional Dental Assistant to join our busy and thriving team! This is a full-time (32 hours per week) position that includes health benefits and a generous paid time off package.


Hope Clinic is an inter-denominational Christian social and medical service provider. The duties of a Dental Assistant are among the most comprehensive and varied in the dental office. This position performs many tasks requiring strong interpersonal and technical skills, assisting the dentist in all chairside procedures, taking patient blood pressure, reviewing and updating medical histories and entering in Dentrix, and sterilizing instruments. Position will have responsibility to familiarize and educate volunteers/students with all dental clinic policies.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Performing RDA functions, if a MI RDA.
  • Taking diagnostically acceptable radiographs. (Must have completed and be able to show proof having completed a board approved radiography course, if not a graduate of an ADA CODA accredited program)
  • Assisting with charting, including periodontal charting and recording treatment plans
  • Taking and pouring impressions and manage lab cases
  • Providing comfort/support to apprehensive patients
  • Providing appropriate post-operative instructions
  • Preparation and breakdown treatment rooms
  • Stocking treatment rooms and maintain inventory
  • Sterilize instruments and handpieces following OSHA guidelines and office protocols
  • Maintaining dental unit water lines documenting testing results
  • Maintaining autoclaves
  • Maintaining spore testing of autoclaves documenting results
  • Maintaining functional dental equipment, informing the Dental Clinic manager when equipment is not functioning properly. Schedule maintenance if requested
  • Providing assistance to volunteers, students as needed
  • Following OSHA and CDA guidelines
  • May assist in training/supervising volunteer


Required Qualifications:

  • RDA license preferred
  • CPR certification
  • Familiarity with Dentrix Ascend
  • Previous dental assisting experience
  • Radiography certification
