WSP USA, an award winning and innovative multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, seeks a full time Senior Consultant - Building Technology Systems for our Arlington, Virginia office.

WSP USA works closely with architects and owners from around the world on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. You will actively participate in the complete project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. WSP offers excellent growth opportunities. Our Consultants are subject matter experts who can effectively communicate and coordinate technical topics with owners, architects, other engineers, contractors and vendors.
Your Impact
  • Provide designs for Telecommunications systems (intra-building structured cabling systems, telecom spaces, and pathway infrastructure), Electronic Safety & Security systems (IP video surveillance, access control, intercom), Audio-Visual systems, and Healthcare (nurse call, paging, etc) systems.
  • Contribute as part of a larger team to deliver projects from inception to completion.
  • Coordinate with clients to gather and document system and design requirements.
  • Create design narratives and coordinated, construction documents (Drawings and CSI Specifications).
  • Manage project resources to complete deliverables.
  • Coordinate, host and participate in project meetings (local and out-of-town) with the design team and clients.
  • Participate in construction meetings, review and respond to Technology system submittals and RFIs.
  • Perform site surveys to document construction progress.
  • Coordinate integration of security and telecommunications systems with other intelligent building systems. (BMS, Lighting control, etc.)
  • Understanding of local and national codes and industry standards (IBC, NFPA, BICSI, ANSI/TIA, AVIXA) related to the design and operation of Telecom, Security, and Audio-Visual systems.
  • Capable of managing construction administration duties, including project management, on site quality checks, and leading construction progress meetings.
  • Preliminary participation in business development activities will also be encouraged.

Required Qualifications
  • Possess a four-year degree (B.S. in engineering is preferred) or equivalent combination of technical degree and related work experience designing technology systems for buildings.
  • 5-7 years' experience actively designing high performance systems for the AEC consulting and engineering industry in general.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Comfortable and poised working directly with clients including federal and public clients, architects and building owners.
  • Ability to uphold workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Revit/Autocad experience desired .
  • Bluebeam Revu experience desired.
  • Design experience related to Electronic Security Systems, Nurse Call and other healthcare systems, Audiovisual, DAS and/or is a plus but not required.
  • RCDD industry certification is desired for communications systems subject matter expert. CPP or PSP for security subject matter expert or CTS-D for AV systems subject matter expert.
  • Other industry certifications outside of subject matter focus (ASIS PSP, AVIXA CTS/CTS-D, Cisco CCNA, etc.) is a plus though not required.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $103,000 - $140,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
