Job description

Railcar Repair Technician

Location: Sand Springs, OK
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | First Shift

Road & Rail Services is seeking a safety-focused Railcar Repair Technician to join our team in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced mechanic who enjoys working outdoors, solving mechanical problems, and seeing the results of their work.

In this role, you will evaluate railcars for damage and wear, determine the repairs needed, and perform approved maintenance to help keep equipment safe and service-ready. Candidates with experience in railcar repair, industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, trailer repair, or a related mechanical field are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

As a Railcar Repair Technician, you will:

Examine railcars for mechanical defects, structural damage, excessive wear, fatigue, and other serviceability concerns

Determine whether identified repairs can be completed safely at the Sand Springs facility

Perform authorized repairs in accordance with customer instructions and applicable Association of American Railroads standards

Use pipe wrenches, pry bars, ratchets, grinders, and other hand or power tools

Lubricate railcars and properly mark or record the completed service date

Maintain accurate documentation for inspections, repairs, and completed work

Report railcars requiring specialized or off-site repairs to management

Assist with cleaning and preparing railcars when operational needs require it

Remove debris and nonhazardous materials using backpack blowers, brooms, vacuums, scrapers, and similar equipment

Keep tools, equipment, and assigned work areas clean and organized

Follow all company, customer, and site-specific safety procedures

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have:

Previous mechanical repair, railcar maintenance, industrial maintenance, or similar hands-on experience

Working knowledge of common hand and power tools

The ability to recognize damage and determine appropriate repair needs

Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail

The ability to follow written repair procedures and customer specifications

Dependable attendance and a willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions

The physical ability to perform active mechanical work throughout the shift

Experience operating pickup trucks, tractors, all-terrain vehicles, or comparable industrial equipment is helpful.
