Job Description:

Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a full-time instructor for Psychology. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction, and evaluate students' progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes for Chemistry. This position is on campus and requires day and evening hours. This position is full-time/exempt.

Please note the following information regarding this position:

• May be required to teach high school students

• May require occasional weekends

• May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)

• May require travel

Responsibilities

• Delivers effective instruction for all levels of Psychology classes

• Teaches fall, spring, and summer semesters

• Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures

• Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives and provide feedback in a timely manner

• Follow state standards in developing course outlines, goals, and objectives

• Ensure consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, testing, labs and other appropriate course work

• Request and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment

• Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports

• Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature

• Responds promptly to administrative requests and adheres to college policies and procedures

• Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students

• Assists with marketing, retention, and recruitment

• Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

• Strong time management and organization skills

• Excellent written and oral communication

• Keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills

• General computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Products)

• Other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• A Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Psychology

OR

• A Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in Psychology

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with instruction in a postsecondary setting and experience with learning management systems.

• Experience with analyzing student learning outcomes and course data.

Salary/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, and sick leave, State of Georgia Retirement, Health and Flexible Benefits Program.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and -compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
