Description
Position Summary
An individual who is a graduate of an accredited APRN program, who has successfully passed the certifying examination, and who is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, Advanced Practice Nursing, to perform medical services and treatment of patients with an approved Collaborative Practice Agreement. Provides professional nursing care within the Department, coordinates care planning with other disciplines, and provides direct and indirect patient care. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectations with minimum supervision. Can triage safely, rapidly, and accurately every patient that enters the clinic setting. Determine priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with physicians about changes in patients' status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies. Can respond quickly and accurately to the patient's condition or the response to treatment.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and adjusts care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
2. Ability to perform/dictate/write history and physical assessments on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
3. Dictates and writes progress notes
4. Dictates discharge summaries
5. Initiates and transcribes orders of the sponsoring physician via verbal communication to the nurse.
6. Initiates appropriate evaluation and assists in emergency management for emergency situations such as cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, burns, and hemorrhage.
7. Reviews patient records to determine health status.
8. Participates in professional development to maintain administrative and clinical competence.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
10. Adhere to the dress code; appearance is neat and clean.
11. Completes annual education requirements.
12. Maintains regulatory requirements.
13. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
14. Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
15. Wears identification while on duty; uses the computerized punch time system correctly.
16. Attends annual review and department in services, as scheduled.
17. Represents the organization positively and professionally in the community.
18. Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, and staff.

1. Basic computer knowledge.
2. Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques, which are central to the professional discipline of nursing.
3. Human relations skills in interviewing and communication
4. Ability to use initiative in decision-making and independent judgment.
5. Ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers in the clinic, ER, and other departments.
6. Willingness to work regular hours and weekends if necessary.

8. Ability to monitor and interpret the hemodynamic status of patients.
9. Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and identification of dysrhythmias.
10. Ability to administer all skills taught in nursing training.
11. Ability to use appropriate discretion in handling confidential information and materials.
12. Ability to interact professionally with the patient and family concerning information about the plan of care.
13. Ability to work individually and as a member of a team.
14. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and prioritize duties.
15. Skilled in EKG interpretations.

Requirements
Required Education and Experience
1. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana.
2. Current BCLS Certification
3. Current ACLS Certification
Preferred Education and Experience
1. NRP preferred but not required
