Job description

PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic Alberta based company specializing in engineering, design, and testing / commissioning of high voltage electrical facilities. Our focus is to incorporate the latest technological advances, such as IEC 61850, to provide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering. This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from preliminary engineering through to the commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer COOP to join our team on a Temporary full-time basis in our Calgary office. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process. Responsibilities:

· Work within a project team of engineers and designers in our Civil Group.

· Detailed technical knowledge of structural engineering design including steel and concrete structures, shallow and deep foundations.

· Gain knowledge of Civil works including site preparation, earthworks and retaining walls.

· Adequate knowledge of applicable Canadian codes and standards.

· Proficient on software applicable to structural engineering design such as STAAD-Pro

as well as experience with AutoCAD would be beneficial

· Strong understanding of safety in design principles.

· Ability to lead a small to medium size design project from start to completion with minimal oversight.

· Results-oriented and self-driven individual with experience juggling multiple projects and meeting project deadlines.

· Strong and confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to write clear and concise documents and be able to clearly explain technical information and concepts to internal and external parties.

· Client-focused – attending client meetings and maintaining good working relationships with Clients.

Preference will be given to candidates who can stay for eight months or longer.

As a condition of employment, successful applicants agrees to undergo a Backcheck screening, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check.

Qualifications:

· Minimum 3rd or 4th year student in Civil/ Structural engineering program.

· Knowledge of the Microsoft office software suite of programs.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an attention to detail are essential.

· Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
