Job description

A full-time Certified Respiratory Therapist opportunity is available at a 290-bed acute care Level II Trauma Center in Hudson, Florida. This hospital is home to a nationally recognized Heart Institute and has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality cardiac and acute care services to the surrounding community. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced clinical environment supporting a wide range of patient populations.

The Certified Respiratory Therapist evaluates patients’ respiratory status and develops individualized care plans to support optimal breathing function and recovery. This role includes the setup, operation, and monitoring of mechanical ventilators for both short- and long-term ventilation support, along with the delivery of routine and complex respiratory therapies across all age groups. Accurate and timely documentation is essential, along with adherence to hospital and departmental standards. The therapist is expected to work independently when needed and maintain a high level of clinical judgment in the absence of supervisory support.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient respiratory needs and develop appropriate respiratory care plans.

  • Set up, operate, and manage mechanical ventilators for acute care patients.

  • Deliver routine and advanced respiratory therapies across all patient populations.

  • Monitor patient response to therapy and adjust care as appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in hospital and departmental systems.

  • Work independently and make clinical decisions in the absence of leadership when required.

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure effective treatment.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a vocational/technical program or AMA-approved respiratory care program (Associate degree required); Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Current Florida State Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) license required.

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required within 6 months of hire.

  • Strong critical care judgment, technical ability, and independent decision-making skills.

Schedule:
