GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Operates, monitors, maintains, and repairs all refrigeration, heating, ventilating, air conditioning (RHVAC), environmental control equipment for the hospital campus; also supervises RHVAC Systems Engineers performing RHVAC work.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Visually inspects and monitors operations of RHVAC equipment daily and makes necessary adjustments and repairs; maintains preventive maintenance schedules as appropriate. Analyzes and trouble-shoots using proper data gathered from field experience, engineering manuals, blue prints, and schematics. Calibrates, repairs, maintains, and operates RHVAC and all other associated equipment and systems. Supervises any RHVAC Systems Engineers. (65%)
  • Responds to, or assigns to a RHVAC Systems Engineer, all service and emergency calls regarding any facility RHVAC issue or device. (20%)
  • Works closely with any outside contractors and engineering firms to assure proper installation of equipment throughout the hospital. (10%)
  • Must demonstrate personal accountability for knowledge and application of DOH, Joint Commission, and ICRA requirements. (5%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
  • Formal RHVAC training
  • Refrigerator Recovery Certification
  • Knowledge of how to read blueprints and electrical schematics

Preferred
  • Stationary Engineer's License
  • 4 years trade related experience, preferably in an institutional setting; supervisory experience
