Job description

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Immunology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. The focus of the research is understanding how innate and adaptive immune interactions regulate responses to cancer immunotherapy. Ongoing projects investigate tumor-specific T cell responses, dendritic cell function, macrophage remodeling, neoantigen vaccine strategies, and immune checkpoint therapy using preclinical tumor models, defined tumor antigens, high-dimensional immune profiling, and functional perturbation approaches. Successful candidates will join a collegial, dedicated group of researchers. The Department of Immunology, led by Nobel Laureate James Allison, conducts cutting-edge and diverse research using state-of-the-art tools in a highly interactive environment.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The successful applicant will develop an in-depth understanding of cancer immunology preclinical models, cancer vaccines, immune checkpoint therapy, and high-dimensional immune profiling approaches. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to show increasing scientific independence over time while receiving mentorship and guidance from the PI.
Take primary responsibility for driving one or more research projects, including experimental design, execution, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of results.
Lead the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and scientific presentations related to their research, with input and supervision from the PI. They may also contribute to grant proposals, review articles, and other scholarly writing.
Engage in collaborative, cross-disciplinary research and will have access to state-of-the-art technologies, core facilities, and computational resources.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
A Ph.D. or equivalent degree with a strong background in immunology, cancer biology, tumor immunology, or a related field.
A strong track record of scientific productivity, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, is required. Competitive candidates will have demonstrated proficiency in scientific writing through at least one lead-author manuscript arising from their Ph.D. or equivalent thesis work.
