Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general guidance of the Security Manager, assist in providing security for patents, employees, visitors and physicians; protects hospital buildings, assets and premise as assigned. Adheres to applicable state laws, follows Hendrick Medical Center’s Policy & Security written job guides approved by the department of Security.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

  • High School or equivalent

Minimum Work Experience

  • 2 years relevant experience
  • The minimum age for Security Officer is 21 years of age by date of appointment.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Obtain and maintain a Level III Commissioned Security Officers state license from the Private Security Bureau (PSB) within 8 weeks of employment. 
  • Ability to pass written and physical PSB course of instruction (obtained within 6 months of employment)
  • A clear and active Texas Divers License
  • Maintain a clear police record
  • Ability to pass prescribed course(s) in weapon proficiency

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to deal effectively with community/consumers and hospital personnel.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Requires extreme diplomacy and tact.
  • Conduct basic investigations and interview others.
  • Operate security electronic equipment including CCTV and access control.
  • Handles emergency or crisis situations
  • Requires judgment or action that could potentially lead to the use of lethal force.
