Under the direction of the Department Manager, U-Haul has an immediate opening for a Die Cutter Machine Operator.


Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Die Cutter Operator to join our production team. This position is responsible for operating flatbed, steel-rule, and thermal die-cutting equipment to produce high-quality decals, and specialty printed products. The ideal candidate will have experience setting up and operating die-cutting equipment, maintaining quality standards, and meeting production deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Hours: 7am-3:30pm

Pay Rate: $19.00/ hr- DOE


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtain and verify production dies, tools, and job specifications.
  • Set up die-cutting equipment according to job requirements.
  • Insert die boards into chases, align and lock up dies, and position chases in the press.
  • Adjust guides, fingers, gauge pins, grippers, and feeder systems for accurate die cutting.
  • Fit rubber to steel-rule dies and prepare make-ready sheets for face-cutting applications.
  • Perform setup adjustments to ensure proper registration, cutting depth, and material handling.
  • Run proof samples and secure supervisor or quality approval before beginning production runs.
  • Monitor production quality throughout the run and make necessary adjustments.
  • Measure and inspect finished parts to verify conformance to customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Start and operate presses and die-cutting equipment, adjusting speed and feeding mechanisms as needed.
  • Remove finished parts and scrap material safely and efficiently.
  • Complete production documentation, job tickets, and quality records accurately.
  • Perform routine maintenance on presses, including lubrication and minor repairs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and quality issues to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Assist with other production duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating die-cutting equipment in a printing, converting, label, decal, or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret job tickets, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pressure-sensitive labels, decals, stickers.
  • Knowledge of steel-rule dies, kiss-cutting, through-cutting, and face-cutting applications.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and manufacturing best practices.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate machinery safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must possess adequate vision to inspect printed and die-cut products for quality and accuracy.


Essential Duties

  • Responsible for accessing programs, setting tools, operating and troubleshooting of brake press machines for production.
  • Perform duties as specified by work orders, blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions.
  • Conduct daily maintenance on machine.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and work instructions to determine appropriate operations to be performed.
  • Uses inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, tape measures and squares to perform quality checks on parts as outlined by the work instructions.
  • Ensure all jobsite safety procedures and standards are followed and met.
  • Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions during the manufacturing process.
  • Understand, support, and implement the company Housekeeping, Safety and Quality policies and procedures into daily work habits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a high degree of mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with brake press machines.
  • Must have the ability to write, speak and read in English.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Must be able to pass print reading, measurement, and fraction/decimal conversion tests
