St. Brendan Catholic School seeks a school Janitor. St. Brendan Catholic School is located in Bothell, WA (25 minutes from Seattle, WA). This is a full-time Monday-Friday position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
We have one class per grade in preschool through 8th grade with a total of 240 students. The mission of St. Brendan Catholic School, in partnership with parents and the parish community, is to educate and empower students to act as Disciples of Christ, pursue academic excellence, and serve the Church and global community. The Janitor will join our friendly and collaborative school staff and will be responsible for the cleanliness, sanitation, security, safety and maintenance of the school building, grounds, and equipment.
Qualifications:
1. Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, such as (but not limited to):
- standing/walking for long periods of time
- lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds (occasionally more)
- operating small machinery
- possess physical strength and stamina required for daily tasks
2. Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities
3. Good verbal and interpersonal skills
4. Knowledge of effective cleaning processes, products, and tools
5. High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
6. Must pass background check and participate in Safe Environment course.
Job Description:
1. Clean and supervise the cleaning of building including classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, gymnasium, library, lobbies, corridors, elevators, stairways, storage areas and other work spaces. Assist parish facilities staff with cleaning of parish spaces on occasion.
2. Cleaning may include, but is not limited to, removing trash, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, buffing, cleaning carpets, washing windows scrubbing floors and ceilings, and sanitizing restrooms
3. Assist with groups using the building for programs, special events or assemblies. Perform set up and tear down of tables, chairs, and audiovisual equipment; assist with training users on equipment as needed; and troubleshoot equipment problems. May lock/unlock areas for access for approved building use and events.
4. Perform minor maintenance repairs and building/facility modifications such as repairing, moving or assembling furniture; repairing custodial equipment; touch up or cover up painting; hanging teaching aids, etc. Submit maintenance request for repairs and modification requests.
6. Prepare school building and classrooms for start of the school year.
7. Maintain exterior of building as requested including mowing, weeding, shovel snow, clean outside doors and lighting.
8. Perform daily grounds and building inspection. Inspect heating pumps and compressors, boilers, fire extinguishers, playground equipment and building for hazards, damage and vandalism. Perform cleaning and monitor restrooms throughout the day to ensure health and safety standards are upheld. Follow Universal Precautions and sanitation procedures when handling clean up of bodily fluids. Unclog plumbing and waste traps as needed.
9. Ability to work in collaboration with and under the supervision of facilities supervisor.
10. Other duties as assigned.

The range of hourly rate is $20-$26 per hour Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
