Position Summary

Union Beverage Packers, LLC is looking for a skilled and dependable Machine Technician to support our beverage production operation.

The Machine Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, adjusting, and performing basic maintenance and repairs on production equipment.

The goal is to keep production equipment running safely, efficiently, and with minimum downtime. The Machine Technician should identify and correct basic machine problems before contacting Maintenance for more complex repairs.

Key Responsibilities

The Machine Technician will:

  • Operate production machines safely and correctly.
  • Monitor equipment during production and identify problems early.
  • Perform machine setups, adjustments, start-ups, shut-downs, and changeovers.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical problems.
  • Make basic repairs and adjustments before calling Maintenance to help reduce downtime.
  • Contact Maintenance when a problem requires more advanced troubleshooting or repair.
  • Perform basic scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on production equipment.
  • Support the preventive maintenance program.
  • Inspect machines for wear, leaks, damaged parts, abnormal noise, and other equipment problems.
  • Read and understand equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and schematics.
  • Work with fillers, labelers, packers, conveyors, palletizers, and other production equipment.
  • Complete production and maintenance paperwork accurately.
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Sanitation, and Production team members.
  • Follow all safety, GMP, food safety, quality, and company requirements.
  • Help meet production goals while maintaining equipment safety and product quality.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous machine operation, mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial equipment experience.
  • Good mechanical understanding and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to identify machine problems and make basic repairs and adjustments.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attendance and reliability.
  • Ability to work weekends, overtime, and a minimum of 48 hours per week.
  • Ability to work safely around moving industrial equipment.

Preferred Experience

Experience in the following areas is preferred but not required:

  • Beverage, food, packaging, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Fillers, labelers, packers, palletizers, conveyors, and similar equipment.
  • Equipment setup, adjustment, repair, or modification.
  • Forklift or pallet jack operation.

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for long periods.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds when needed.
  • Bend, kneel, climb, push, and pull during the shift.
  • Work around moving machinery, noise, and production materials.
  • Work in hot, cold, wet, or fast-moving production areas.
  • Wear all required PPE.
