About the Opportunity:

The NDT Level I-FPI will inspect and verify dimensional compliance for product using various inspection gages, scales, and visual inspection.

Location: Plainville, CT - This position is 100% on site, Monday through Friday with overtime available (1st shift: 7:00am-3:30pm).


Responsibilities:

  • Detect and interpret the relevancy of flaws in metal parts by using required FPI methods.
  • Apply knowledge of flaw indications, quality control requirements, and technical requirements to determine acceptability.
  • Prepare parts and perform NDT inspections in accordance with approved data by special methods. Will use magnifiers as required to prove reliability of NDT inspection process.
  • Document results of inspections as per work instructions, maintain records of inspection planning purposes as required.
  • Determine routing of parts through knowledge of technical orders, process routing work instructions.
  • Attend and successfully complete on the job and classroom training to be certified on assigned tasks.
  • Open to cross-training other employees in related inspection processes and techniques.
  • Adhere to safety, fire, and housekeeping regulations.
  • Checks tools and equipment for safe usage and assures such equipment is calibrated, safely stored and certified.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement and supports 6S initiatives.
  • Meet visual acuity requirements.
  • Generates suggestions for improving work; develops innovative approaches and ideas.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of progressive experience in an inspection capacity related to NDT/FPI testing
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Aerospace industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate in the English language both in the verbal and written form.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, inspection attributes related to indications and evaluate them effectively according to applicable quality assurance codes and specifications.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
