Description
Summary:
This is a vacant position seeking an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics under the College of Engineering, Technology, and Physical Sciences. This is a full-time (9-month) position expected to begin in Fall 2026. The rank and tenure status of the position is negotiable based on qualifications. Applicants should possess a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and service. Applicants at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor must have interests in outreach and funded projects. A Ph.D. in Physics with specialization in Materials Science/Nuclear Physics/Medical Physics/Condensed Matter Physics/Engineering Physics or a closely related field is required for this position.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach at least twelve (12) semester hours per semester.
  • The selected candidate is expected to maintain a strong research rigor and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Physics.
  • As the Physics program offers MS and PhD in Applied Physics, the candidate must seek funding to support graduate students.
  • Participate in teaching, research, and service activities at the department, college, and university levels that include completing teaching, research & service annually.
  • Perform other duties as required

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
  • Applicant must possess a Ph.D. in Physics with specialization in Materials Science/Nuclear Physics/Medical Physics/Condensed Matter Physics/Engineering Physics or a closely related field is required for this position.
  • Applicant must have at least 1-3 years of teaching experience at a university level.
  • Applicant must have demonstrated teaching excellence indicated by research presentations and teaching assessments.
  • Applicant must have a commitment to research as evidenced by publication in scholarly journals and receiving external funding.

Supplemental Information
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Evidence of high-quality research in the fields of Physics and or related fields confirming with publications in professional journals.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate Physics courses. Expected to obtain external funding.
