TITLE: Platform and Application Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Web Development

WORK TYPE: Full-Time Exempt

LOCATION: 12999 E. Adam Aircraft Circle; Englewood, CO 80112

PAY RANGE: $80,000 - $95,000/year DOE


BONUS: 8% bonus potential based upon achievement of defined goals

Summary:

The Platform & Application Engineer plays a key role in the development, integration, modernization, and support of SME's digital ecosystem. This positionis responsible fordesigning, developing, andmaintainingbusiness-critical applications, APIs, integrations, and web platforms that support members, conferences, publications, and future revenue-generating initiatives.

This role will work across multiple technologies including .NET, Azure, APIs, WordPress, and association management systems to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure digital experiences. The ideal candidate combines strong application development skills with a systems-oriented mindset and enjoys solving complex integration and business process challenges.

The Platform & Application Engineer will contribute to major strategic initiatives including platform modernization, application redevelopment, CMS migrations, and enterprise integrations.

Job Responsibilities:


Application Development & Platform Engineering

  • Design, develop, test, andmaintainapplications using ASP.NET Core and related Microsoft technologies.
  • Participate in the modernization and redevelopment of business-critical applications and platforms.
  • Develop scalable solutions that support organizational growth and evolving member needs.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and providetimelyresolution to production incidents.
  • Participate in software architecture discussions and technical planning initiatives.

API & Systems Integration

  • Design, build, andmaintainREST APIs and integration services.
  • Develop integrations between the Association Management System (AMS), websites, applications, and third-party platforms.
  • Support data synchronization and automation initiatives across enterprise systems.
  • Monitor and improve integration reliability, performance, and security.
  • Assistin documenting system architecture, APIs, and business processes.

Digital Platform Support

  • Support SME's web platform ecosystem, including WordPress and future CMS platforms.
  • Develop custom functionality, integrations, and enhancements as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver new features and improve digital experience.
  • Participate in platform migration and modernization efforts.

Cloud & Infrastructure Support

  • Support applications and services hosted within Microsoft Azure.
  • Assistwith deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Follow established security, compliance, and development best practices.
  • Participate in disaster recovery, backup, and operational readiness efforts.

Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer

  • Work closely with technical and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Participate in documentation and knowledge-sharing initiatives to reduce institutional knowledge risk.
  • Contribute to technical standards, development practices, and process improvements.
  • Mentor and support junior team members whereappropriate.

Other Duties

  • Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field; or equivalent years of experience.
  • 4+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience developing applications using ASP.NET Core /.NET.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications in a production environment.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud-native development.
  • Experience integrating enterprise business systems and third-party platforms.
  • Experience with WordPress development and customization.
  • Experience with PHP and modern web technologies.
  • Experience with CMS migrations or digital platform modernization projects.
  • Experience working with Association Management Systems (AMS) or membership organizations.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment processes.
