Job Details
The Durham District School Board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships, both historic and modern, with the territories upon which our school board and schools are located. Today, this area is home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. We acknowledge that the Durham Region forms a part of the traditional and treaty territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the Mississauga Peoples and the treaty territory of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. It is on these ancestral and treaty lands that we teach, live and learn.

As a Long-Term Occasional Teacher (LTO) for DDSB, you'll create a vibrant and supportive learning environment where students thrive. You'll bring your passion for teaching to the classroom, guiding students through their educational journey and fostering a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons that align with the curriculum and support student learning.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to help students grow.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to enhance student learning.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.

Qualifications and additional information:
  • Required subject qualifications: French qualifications for Core French grade 9 and Canadian and World Studies qualified for Grade 9 Canadian Geography Language of Instruction ENGLISH
  • FTE: 1.0
  • Grade(s)/assignment: Grade 9 Core FRENCH x 2 and Grade 9 Canadian Geography- Language of Instruction ENGLISH
  • Tentative course codes (if known): FSF 1D1 x 2 and CGC 1D1
  • Ontario teaching certificate (OCT) in good standing
  • FSL qualifications and successful completion of the Boards written French competency test are required. The test will be administered to person's if/when they are recommended for a specific French position following an interview.
  • Secondary LTO Salary Range: $57,986 to $119,967/year (Placement on salary grid is based on QECO rating and teaching experience. Salary will be pro-rated based on the position FTE).

Please note: This is a full time job for FIRST semester ONLY.
  • External hires can take up to 10 working days to be processed which could affect the start date for this position

Additional Requirements
  • Provide a current Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening upon hire.
