General Description of Duties
Starting placement will generally not exceed 15% of the advertised minimal salary and is based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to assist the Public Works Engineering Services Division in providing design and CADD related services for construction and maintenance of infrastructure to enhance our community's quality of life. Work involves providing technical support to the design professionals by producing design and other engineering related documents necessary to convey design details to construction forces. Work also involves providing direct assistance to the public at large in accessing technical information developed for public use.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Prepares base drawings for designs. Prepares base drawings according to base drawing standards for design as required by engineers. Prepares contour and topographic data for incorporation into base drawings in accordance with base drawing standards for design as required by engineers. Prepares plan/profile drawings, and cross sections from base drawing and contour/topo information according to base drawing standards for design as required by the engineers.
Coordinates with engineer(s) for design input, and incorporates engineering design into drawings. Provides Design Engineer(s) with drawings in format specified.
Performs technical activities outside of the office. Assists engineers with field investigations for drainage complaints, subdivision construction review, and design projects.
Performs miscellaneous technical activities inside the office. Prepares presentation documents and permit applications. Maintains computer and paper file system as directed. Attends training and serves on the Committee as assigned. Prepares blueprinting and copying drawings and documents for County staff and the general public.

DIFFICULTY
This work entails a variety of complicated, technical tasks and making decisions that are repetitive on a recurring basis and commonly related to daily activities. The decisions are relatively simple, relying on historical data and previous solutions.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CUSTOMER CONTACT
This position involves mainly contact with internal staff to coordinate survey work and ensure data accuracy, seek direction and clarification on assignments, and to provide assistance in preparation of presentation materials.
EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED
A personal computer, word processing/spreadsheet software, specialized software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Arc GIS, and Arc Pro, adding machine and/or calculator, and a vehicle or light truck are some of the equipment and tools used in this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in an office with some field work. A moderate degree of physical effort (standing, walking, driving) is required for performing this work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of standard office machines, procedures, processes, and filing systems. Knowledge of personal computer software in a Windows environment. Knowledge of CADD and engineering related software. Knowledge of Engineering Standards such as Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Florida DOT Roadway and Traffic Design Standards, and other Applicable Engineering Standards. Skill to maintain computerized records. Ability to efficiently organize, prioritize, understand, and meet deadlines. Ability to initiate and follow through on assignments with attention to detail. Ability to add numbers, measure items, perform statistical computations, using formulas, fundamental engineering and surveying computations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires graduation from an accredited junior or community college with an AA or AS degree in CADD or Engineering Design, or a related field; or high school diploma or an equivalent and two years of related work experience in the engineering and/or survey profession focusing on Transportation, Stormwater, Parks, Utility, and Subdivision Development projects.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License and have a favorable driving record.
Selection Guidelines: Formal application, rating of education and experience; oral interview and reference check.
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt. Analysis: this is work that involves performing technical work preparing base drawings for engineering design, using Computer Aided Drafting software.
