Job Summary
Full Time 40 Hours | BWH Main Campus

Responsible for:
• Assisting the speech language pathologists (SLPs) during instrumental exams including but not limited to video swallow studies (VFSS) in radiology and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of the swallow (FEES) on patient units.
• Moving patients from the radiology holding area to the VFSS room which includes transferring patients from stretchers to a chair and/or wheelchair to a chair.
• Setting up prior to and cleaning up after VFSS and FEES.
• Collecting and delivering endoscopes to/from central processing department (CPD).
• Maintaining supply inventory and ordering/stocking supplies for office, VFSS and FEES.
• Working closely with patient transport department and radiology department with scheduling/moving patients.
• Answering phone messages and calling patients.
• Ensuring the SLP work areas (staff office/2C SLP office) are neat - including refrigerators.
• Supporting the SLPs workflow including but not limited to copying and producing communication boards.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Experience
  • Experience working as a Rehab Aide 0-1 year preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent attention to detail Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Good bedside manner.
  • Good physical strength and stamina for lifting and moving immobile patients.
