WHY:The purpose of this role is to lead the development and support of manufacturing software solutions that enable vehicle testing, validation, and production execution across GM's global manufacturing network. By improving software capability, reliability, and scalability, this role directly supports vehicle quality and manufacturing performance.

WHAT:As a Manufacturing Software Engineering Supervisor, you will lead a team of software engineers while remaining actively involved in architecture, technical decision-making, development, and problem solving.

HOW:Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and plant teams to develop, deploy, and support software solutions that improve vehicle quality, production efficiency, and operational reliability across global manufacturing operations.

Work Arrangement - Onsite

The successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis. This role requires up to 25% domestic and international travel.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Build team capability and technical knowledgeby strengthening understanding of vehicle subsystems, EOL software, documentation, and shared technical references.
  • Lead technical delivery and strategyfor global end-of-line (EOL) software systems by setting direction, assigning deliverables, and driving solutions that support current operations and future manufacturing needs.
  • Ensure disciplined executionthrough clear operational plans, transparent work management, accurate Jira tracking, and consistent follow-through on commitments.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadershipthrough design reviews, technical decisions, problem solving, and execution support across concept, development, validation, and deployment.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing teamby setting expectations, coaching employees, allocating resources, managing performance, and holding the team accountable for quality, timing, and results.
  • Drive cross-functional alignmentacross Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Software, and plant teams to remove barriers, clarify priorities, and deliver integrated solutions.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Understanding ofvehicle electrical systems and end-of-line processes, and how software supports manufacturing tooling and plant operations.
  • Demonstrated ability tolead technical teams, set expectations, coach employees, and drive accountability for deliverables, quality, and timelines.
  • Experience inoperational planning, resource allocation, and performance managementwithin a technical or manufacturing environment.
  • Strongcommunication, judgment, and data-driven decision-makingskills, with ability to influence across functions and translate business needs into action.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Hands-on software development experiencebuilding and modifying production-quality applications, with ability to lead technical work through design, implementation, testing, and delivery.
  • Experience implementingC++ changes in distributed or multiprocess systems, including interprocess messaging, configuration, or I/O drivers used at endofline.
  • Exposure todiagnostic communicationsand subsystem interactions (e.g., basic understanding of how test applications talk to controllers at the end of line).
  • Practical experience withintegration testing,hardwareintheloopor bench testing, and creatingtest casesthat validate software changes against plant requirements.
  • Experience contributing todesign discussions(sequence diagrams, interface updates), and proposing small technical improvements under guidance.
  • Familiarity withrisk/defect analysistechniques (e.g., identifying failure modes, documenting mitigations) and writingclear, reproducible bug reports.
  • Exposure tomanufacturing environmentsor collaboration with assemblyplant personnel to support deployments, triage issues, and gather feedback.
  • Working knowledge ofJira(or similar) for work tracking andGitHub(or similar) for pull requests, code reviews, and CI signals; willingness to deepen expertise.
  • Experience creating or maintaininginternal documentationthat captures "how it works," change notes, and "day2" support tips for operations team
