Job description

Position Summary:
As a Delivery Driver, you will have the opportunity to be in the driver's seat of your career. Expand your skill set, build long-lasting relationships and feel rewarded for the work you put in! We will provide you with the necessary tools to deliver propane, refined fuel, and lubricants in a safe and efficient manner to our customers' homes and businesses.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and efficient delivery of propane, refined fuel, and lubricants to customer systems following all codes of standards and regulations.
  • Perform deliveries in such a manner as to maintain good customer relations.
  • Educate customers on the safe use of propane and appliances.
  • Accurately complete all invoices and related paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report all maintenance items to supervisor.
  • Maintain equipment in operational and cleanly appearances at all times.
  • Represent yourself and United Cooperative professionally at all times in action and appearance - positively enriching the culture of United Cooperative.
  • Work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure facility is well maintained.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment and property and report findings to supervisor.
  • Make recommendations for improvements in the facility or to equipment.
  • Follow up to ensure that work has been completed efficiently.
  • Attend safety and related job trainings as they become available.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Seasonal Tender Truck Driver
  • Haul agronomy products from fertilizer plant to the farm in an efficient and safe way for the benefit of United Cooperative and its member owners.
  • Ensure on time loading and unloading and communicate with vendors if delays occur.
  • Be available to load and/or unload your loads as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Verify that the equipment and supporting vehicles are in good working order.
  • Blend and load Agronomy products.

Seasonal Semi Driver
  • Provide safe and efficient transportation of commodities and farm supply products for the benefit of United Cooperative and its member owners.
  • Load trucks and inspect products.
  • Perform timely product delivery, accurate recordkeeping, cleanliness of vehicle to promote a positive company image.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Communicate often with coworkers and supervisors to ensure smooth operation.
  • Prompt reporting to supervisor with personal needs, safety concerns, customer problems, vehicle issues and any product inconsistencies.

Qualifications:
  • One year of relevant experience and/or any equivalent experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
  • Maintain a valid Class B CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements.
  • Maintain required Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Self-motivated/self-directed.
  • Ability to make independent judgments, which have moderate impacts on the organization.
  • Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to be on call on a rotating basis.
  • Candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, and must have, or be able to complete CETP certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful candidate will be able to work independently to resolve problems, be committed to the highest level of safety and accuracy in performing tasks, have excellent communication skills, and have a genuine commitment to providing superior customer service.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop and get in and out of a truck multiple times a day.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather and driving conditions.
