The role - Production Graphic Designer


We welcome you to apply if you are a Production Graphic Designer with excellent communication, strong attention to detail, and creative design skills. If you are a Graphic Designer or an Environmental Graphic Designer whose background highlights knowledge of large format print, coupled with experience in creating production ready and print ready artwork, then this is the role for you. We are looking for a creative individual who has the ability to think outside the box and bring inspiring ideas to life.

Please note that this position will be located fulltime in our downtown office.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Consult with internal clients and production specialists to establish the overall look, design elements and product requirements;
  • Build production ready and print ready artwork;
  • Conceive, design, and implement concepts, guidelines and strategies in various creative projects and oversee them to completion;
  • Make content and design edits per directions from Project Coordinator/Manager;
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications and guidelines for production and installation;
  • Produce layouts of architectural hardware, signage, and fixtures;
  • Use existing photo and illustration banks, client supplied images, and typography guides to meet clients' needs;
  • Make appropriate corrections to photos where necessary;
  • Use creative software skills as value adds when applicable and as requested;
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder expectations by following a schedule to ensure files are reviewed and delivered on time for production;
  • Consult with engineers and production staff during fabrication.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in Graphic Design is required;
  • 2+ years' experience in graphic design (experience in large-scale print production, pre-press, packaging, environmental graphics, industrial design, interior design or architecture is highly advantageous);
  • Mandatory software experience includes Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign;
  • Ability to produce detailed and accurate technical drawings, layouts, and pre-press files in a timely manner;
  • Manage multiple on-going projects from beginning to end in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
  • Technical ability and artistic talent, as demonstrated by a portfolio of work;
  • A solid understanding of signage detailing, materials, construction processes and print production (digital and conventional);
  • Ability to maintain good communication with team members, clients and vendors;
  • Thrives under pressure;
  • Strong typographic skills;
  • Has a suitable work-from-home setup for remote work;
  • A passion to stay current on market trends and research as it relates to environmental graphic design.
