Job description

NATURE OF CUSTODIAL WORK: Custodial duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager, including, but not limited to:
• Performs janitorial work to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for library visitors such as
o Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping
o Dusting
o Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, kitchens, and other spaces
o Collecting and taking out trash
o Glass cleaning, etc.
• Keeps landscaping and grounds clean and free of debris
• Responds quickly to slip-and-fall hazards, active spills, etc.
• Opens deliveries and stocks janitorial supplies
• Sets up and tears down furniture in meeting rooms
• Additional light building maintenance work as needed


QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Punctual, flexible, dependable, and accountable for one’s work
• Communicates effectively with staff and public
• Experience working in an urban setting
• Possesses a valid Michigan Driver’s License and reliable transportation
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Previous successful Custodial experience desired; ability to meet high quality standards a must
• Completion of OSHA training such as Hazardous Materials, Bio-Hazards, and Blood borne pathogens desired


HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week, starting at 7 a.m. weekdays. Every other Saturday required.


SALARY/BENEFITS: $33,200-$40,000 annual salary ($15.96-$19.23/hour) dependent on experience.
