About This Position

The Assistant Food Service Director works with the Food Service Director to plan activities associated with running a large food service operation with one or more production kitchens. The Assistant Food Service Director is also responsible for supervising a group of food service workers that are involved with the preparation and distribution of food in the kitchen.

You will work onsite inside a jail/correctional facility.  You will report to a Food Service Director.

Essential Functions/Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the guidance, training, and management of the facility food service operation.

  • You will hire, orient, train and issues corrective action (when applicable) to team members.

  • Develop positive connections with clients requires communicating with them.

  • Oversee the appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served according to facility or site plan.

  • Maintain accuracy of inventory in advance preparation of planned menu schedule.

  • Ensure that food items are stored properly.

  • Maintain all serving schedules to ensure all food items are served per menu specifications in a safe and appropriate manner according to departmental guidelines.

  • Maintain a sanitary environment following food service and Health Department codes and regulations.

  • Responsible for any state or other inspection of food service operation.

  • Other responsibilities as determined by our needs.


What You'll Need
  • High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience. Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Two years of management or supervisory experience in a food service position.

  • Three years of experience working in food service.

  • ServSafe Certification.

  • Must have experience with purchasing, inventory, ordering and receiving.

  • Experience managing and applying kitchen sanitation and safety standards and methods.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematical abilities to complete necessary reports.

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and with food service management systems.
