Job description

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant for our client in the manufacturing and production sector. This role offers the opportunity to support financial operations, improve accounting processes, and partner with production and operations teams to understand their impact on the company’s financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, expense accruals, KPI true-ups, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records within Oracle and related ERP applications.
  • Support general ledger accounting, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice processing, and order-management activities.
  • Perform three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and packing slips.
  • Investigate discrepancies and ensure expenses are coded accurately to the appropriate general ledger accounts and departments.
  • Maintain vendor and customer account information.
  • Assist with cost tracking, ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and management reporting support.
  • Serve as a communication link between accounting clerks, operational teams, and finance leadership.
  • Help troubleshoot routine accounting issues and process questions.
  • Provide accounting and administrative support for special projects assigned by the Accounting Supervisor and Finance Manager.
  • Cross-train and provide backup support for payroll, cost accounting, production accounting, and related functions.
  • Partner with production and operations teams to understand manufacturing workflows and their financial impact.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, documentation, accuracy, and reporting timeliness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • At least five years of progressive accounting experience.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice processing, purchase orders, and three-way matching.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Sage or similar ERP/accounting software; Oracle experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with payroll processes is a plus.
  • Manufacturing, production, inventory, or cost-accounting experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate across departments, resolve discrepancies, and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and written and verbal communication skills.
