How much do full time internships jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 27, 2026, the average hourly pay for full time internships in Decatur, IL is $18.51, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $18.17 and $18.65 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Is it possible to do an internship with a full-time job?

Full-time internships are designed to be completed alongside other commitments, but balancing a full-time job and an internship can be challenging due to time constraints. Many interns manage part-time or flexible internships to accommodate their work schedules, and some companies offer remote or evening internships to support this. It is important to consider workload, time management, and employer policies before pursuing both simultaneously.

Is $30 an hour good for an intern?

For a full-time internship, earning $30 an hour is considered above average in many industries, especially for entry-level roles that require skills or certifications. Interns typically earn less, often minimum wage or slightly above, but paid internships at this rate can reflect specialized skills or competitive markets. The appropriateness depends on the industry, location, and the intern's experience level.

What is the difference between Full Time Internships vs Part Time Internships?

AspectFull Time InternshipsPart Time Internships
Work HoursTypically 35-40 hours per weekLess than 30 hours per week
DurationUsually 3-6 months, often aligned with academic semestersFlexible, can be shorter or spread out over a longer period
CompensationOften paid, sometimes unpaid depending on industryUsually paid, but can be unpaid in some cases
Work EnvironmentFull integration into team, more responsibilitiesLimited responsibilities, more observational

Full Time Internships involve working standard full-time hours, providing immersive experience and greater responsibilities. Part Time Internships offer flexible hours with fewer responsibilities, suitable for students balancing other commitments. Both serve as valuable entry points into industries, but Full Time Internships typically provide more comprehensive exposure and networking opportunities.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during a full-time internship?

During a full-time internship, you can expect to work on a mix of real-world projects and tasks that contribute directly to your team’s goals. Interns often assist with ongoing projects, conduct research, attend meetings, and collaborate with various departments. The specific responsibilities will vary depending on the industry and company, but most internships are designed to give you hands-on experience, meaningful assignments, and regular feedback from supervisors. This experience not only helps build your professional skills but also provides valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of your chosen field.

Do internships offer full-time jobs?

Internships can sometimes lead to full-time employment if the employer offers conversion opportunities after the internship period. However, not all internships guarantee a full-time position, as it depends on company policies, performance, and available openings. Interns often gain skills and experience that can improve their chances of securing a full-time role in the future.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a full-time internship, and why are they important?

To thrive in a full-time internship, you generally need a relevant educational background, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to learn. Familiarity with industry-specific software, productivity tools like Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and sometimes basic project management systems is often expected. Proactive communication, adaptability, and a positive attitude help interns stand out and make a strong impression. These skills and qualities are crucial as they enable interns to contribute effectively, integrate with teams, and maximize their learning experience.

What are the big 4 internships?

The Big 4 internships refer to internship programs offered by the four largest professional services firms: Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young (EY), and KPMG. These internships typically provide experience in auditing, consulting, tax, and advisory services, often serving as a pathway to full-time employment within these firms.

What are full time internships?

Full time internships are structured work experiences offered by companies or organizations, typically for students or recent graduates, where participants work the equivalent of a regular full-time employee, usually 35-40 hours per week. These internships provide hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to professional environments, allowing interns to apply academic knowledge, gain relevant skills, and explore potential career paths. Full time internships may last anywhere from a few weeks to several months and can sometimes lead to full-time job offers after completion.
