Plants, people, service and leadership. This position leads Moana Nursery's Interior Plant Services business, including the maintenance, installation, enhancement, design, estimating, selling and customer service work that helps our commercial and residential customers enjoy healthy, beautiful indoor plant environments.
Your mission is to grow and manage a profitable Interior Plant Services business while making sure our customers, teammates and plants succeed. You will lead small installation and maintenance teams, develop solutions for customers, estimate and price work, generate proposals, present designs, oversee project execution, manage customer relationships and help train teammates to deliver outstanding service. This position is responsible for ensuring that Interior Plant Services work is completed safely, efficiently, profitably and with the quality our customers expect from Moana Nursery.
Ultimately, this role is about having the right plant solutions, the right service plan, the right communication and the right follow-through so our customers receive compelling indoor plant and gardening solutions - always.
Your Specific Job Responsibilities
• Upholds Moana Nursery's strict safety policies and ensures the health and safety of teammates, customers and the public
• Leads, trains and supports Interior Plant Services maintenance and installation teammates
• Builds strong relationships with customers through listening, communication, responsiveness and follow-through
• Designs indoor plant solutions that improve the customer's space, meet customer needs and fit within budget
• Estimates labor, material, equipment and subcontractor costs accurately
• Prices work to meet current business objectives while still winning quality projects
• Generates clear proposals that explain what is included and not included in the scope of work
• Presents proposals and design solutions professionally and confidently
• Sells on quality, solutions, service and value - not price alone
• Manages Interior Plant Services maintenance contracts, enhancements and installation projects
• Schedules and coordinates work with teammates, customers, vendors and subcontractors
• Oversees project execution to meet quality, schedule and cost goals
• Proactively manages scope changes, change orders and customer expectations
• Completes project administration tasks accurately and on time
• Reviews estimated results compared to actual job performance and applies lessons learned
• Supports renewal of maintenance contracts and keeps contracts current
• Pursues new customers through referrals, walk-ins, calls, marketing efforts and relationship building
• Participates in constructive feedback and conflict resolution with a focus on teammate and customer success
• Maintains sincere enthusiasm for plants, service, the environment, our community and our team
Physical Requirements & Activity
• Applicant must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Applicant must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel and work on their feet for extended periods
• Applicant must be able to load, unload, move and stage plants, containers, supplies and related materials
• Applicant must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors, including travel between customer sites and Moana Nursery locations
Expertise & Experience Requirements
• Three or more years of hands-on interior plant, horticulture, landscape, maintenance or related green-industry experience
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
• Strong indoor plant knowledge, including plant identification, plant health, watering requirements, light requirements, pest issues, disease concerns and general plant care
• Experience managing customers, service work, maintenance routes, installations or project-based work
• Ability to estimate labor, material and equipment needs accurately
• Ability to write and present clear proposals
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to understand job cost, gross margin, labor cost, material cost and basic financial performance
Nice To Have Skills or Experiences
• Associate or B.S. degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Botany, Biology, Business or a related field
• Nursery Worker Certification or Certified Plantscape Technician
• Experience selling maintenance contracts, enhancements or installation projects
• Experience leading small teams or service crews
• Experience with cost-based estimating and pricing
• Experience with design, proposal generation or customer presentations
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training

Your Future Work Schedule
This is a full-time, year-round position. Your schedule will generally be Monday through Friday during normal business hours, with occasional flexibility needed to support customer appointments, installations, seasonal workload, team training, emergencies, trade shows or other business needs.
Interior Plant Services is a customer-facing business, so success in this role requires proactive planning, timely communication and a willingness to adjust when customers, teammates or projects need support.
