Job description

Licensed Electrical Engineer or EIT

Bowley Jones LLC is an Architecture & Consulting MEP Engineering firm seeking a licensed full-time Electrical Engineer or EIT to join our growing team in Severn, Maryland. As a contributing member and leader of the team, you will manage a portfolio of electrical consulting projects from start to finish. You will perform all aspects of the electrical engineering process including site survey, documentation, design, client relationships, and construction administration. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who wants to directly contribute to company success and grow with us.

Activities Include

  • Conduct site and building system surveys.
  • Develop and draw complex electrical design solutions in accordance with current code requirements and sound engineering principles.
  • Resolve complex design challenges while instilling confidence in clients.
  • Represent the firm at client meetings and communicate effectively with project teams and clients.
  • Grow and maintain professional relationships with local jurisdictions and applicable utility companies, including working knowledge of coordination processes.
  • Provide stellar customer service while marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients and partner firms.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for Design Engineers.
  • Apply broad knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
  • Review work produced by stall for quality assurance and oversee designs through project construction/completion.
  • Organize/prioritize multiple tasks to complete the work in a sequential efficient manner.
  • Complete electrical calculations including, but not limited to load studies, voltage drop, panel/transformer/feeder loading, generator sizing, illumination levels, etc.
  • Accurately produce narratives, drawings and specifications to meet project milestone schedules.
  • Attend coordination and design meetings as needed.
  • Address comments from clients, AHJ's & other review authorities.
  • Provide construction administration services including review of shop drawings, RFI's, change order proposal and punch walks.
  • Continue to develop knowledge of all codes applicable to the discipline.
  • Possess and continue to develop a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software, SKM software tools, and Lighting Design software (i.e. AGI, Visual, etc.)

Qualifications

  • PE license in Maryland.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited University program.
  • Experience designing electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm systems in buildings.
  • 5+ years of experience in design and modification of systems for multifamily, commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Broad knowledge of standard codes and compliance methods.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required to undertake multiple projects.
  • Understanding and application of NEC, IBC and NFPA codes for completing electrical design work.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is preferred.
