Job description

Location: Waltham, MA (hybrid)

ERGO NEXT's mission is to help entrepreneurs thrive. We're doing that by building the only technology-led, full-stack provider of small business insurance in the industry, taking on the entire value chain and transforming the customer experience.

Simply put, wherever you find small businesses, you'll find ERGO NEXT.

Since 2016, we've helped hundreds of thousands of small business customers across the United States get fast, customized and affordable coverage. We're backed by industry leaders in insurance and tech, and we still have room to grow — that's where you come in.

We're inviting an experienced and strategic Insurance Product Manager to join our Casualty team. This is a highly visible and cross-functional position focused on delivering and managing best-in-class products across a broad range of business classes. You will shape appetite, pricing, and underwriting rules, and play a key role in helping NEXT expand its platform to serve more complex small businesses. If you get excited about understanding & redesigning pricing, love thinking about risk, and want to work on initiatives that will have a real impact on the industry and the customer - we'd love to talk to you!

What You'll Do:

  • Own ongoing management of our commercial Casualty products, including coverage, pricing, underwriting logic, segmentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Execute pricing and underwriting improvements by refining appetite, rating plans, forms, and risk selection based on loss drivers and portfolio performance.
  • Partner with Engineering and Technical Product to translate business priorities into shipped product and pricing changes.
  • Support product filings, working with Actuarial and Compliance to bring updates to market.
  • Analyze product and portfolio performance, identify improvement opportunities, and drive measurable impact on growth and loss ratio.
  • Conduct competitive and market research, incorporating customer and agent feedback into actionable product enhancements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Actuarial, Data Science, Claims, Legal, and Operations to align execution with underwriting and profitability goals.
  • Communicate product updates and performance clearly to leadership and key internal and external stakeholders.

What We Need:

  • 5+ years of Commercial General Liability insurance and/or BOP product management, underwriting, actuarial, or risk management; Excess Casualty experience is a major plus.
  • Proven experience in using data driven methods in decision making and strong analysis skills
  • Experience optimizing and pricing casualty products using data, modeling, and loss ratio analysis
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, creative in building solutions, and rigorous in execution
  • Clear, structured communication skills for both technical and non-technical leadership audiences
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple workstreams across multiple functions
  • BA/BS degree; advanced degree (MBA, MS) or insurance certifications (e.g., CPCU) are a plus
