Job description

Christie Clinic's department of Physical Therapy is seeking a full-time Insurance Specialist at the Fields clinic from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements.

Duties include performance of skills through obtaining authorizations for physical therapy services in accordance with established rules and procedures.

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Obtaining all authorizations for Physical Therapy through online insurance sites and through phone calls.
  • Updating billing alerts and providing final information to PSR’s to schedule patients.
  • File fax confirmations for insurance authorizations.
  • Assist with maintaining physical therapy visits within authorization dates and visits provided.
  • Do correspondence concerning overall insurances, appeals, and retro authorizations.
  • Problems solve patient’s questions/complaints and forward to customer service if necessary.
  • Check Jellybeans follow up questions from patients/billing dept/claims.
  • Provide insurance guidance to patients and providers. Demonstrate understanding of insurance requirements.
  • Attend Continuous Improvement classes for changes to insurance requirements in the electronic medical record and individual carrier updates.
  • Assist with coverage of front desk needs, including check in, scheduling and answering phone calls.
  • Perform related work as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous health care experience

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: 

  • None

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 25 pounds.  Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.          

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a clinical setting and involves contact with insurance carriers/patients as well as exposure to communicable illnesses.  Requirements may include working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
