Job description

Position Summary:

Prestige Trucking Insurance is looking for an experienced Fleet Agent to develop, manage, and grow a portfolio of commercial trucking fleet accounts. This is a high-impact production role for someone who knows the trucking insurance space well — the coverages, the carriers, the submissions process, and what it takes to build lasting client relationships. The Fleet Agent serves as the primary resource for fleet clients, working directly with trucking companies, insurance carriers, and internal teams to deliver accurate, competitive coverage solutions. Responsibilities span the full account lifecycle, including fleet submissions, renewals, risk assessments, and ongoing client support, with a focus on coverage accuracy, profitability, and compliance. The right candidate brings solid commercial trucking insurance experience, established carrier relationships, and a consultative approach to sales and service that earns trust and drives retention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a book of commercial trucking fleet accounts
  • Prospect, quote, and bind fleet insurance policies in alignment with company growth strategies
  • Prepare and submit complete, accurate fleet submissions to insurance carriers
  • Work closely with underwriting to ensure clean submissions, accurate driver rosters, vehicle schedules, and loss histories
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with insurance carriers to secure competitive pricing and coverage
  • Advise fleet clients on coverage options including Auto Liability, Physical Damage, Cargo, and General Liability
  • Conduct risk assessments and collaborate with clients on safety, DOT compliance, and loss-control strategies
  • Support renewals by reviewing account performance, negotiating terms, and implementing retention strategies
  • Ensure compliance with all carrier, regulatory, and company requirements
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to ensure smooth onboarding, servicing, and ongoing client support
  • Maintain accurate documentation and activity tracking in agency management systems
  • Partner with marketing and business development teams to support lead generation and fleet growth initiatives
  • Monitor account profitability, coverage adequacy, and risk trends within assigned fleet portfolio

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Fleet & Trucking Insurance Expertise – Strong knowledge of commercial trucking fleet insurance, including coverages, underwriting requirements, and risk characteristics.
  • Carrier Relationship Management – Ability to work effectively with insurance carriers to negotiate terms, resolve underwriting issues, and secure competitive programs.
  • Sales & Business Development Skills – Ability to prospect, consult, and close fleet accounts through a solutions-oriented, relationship-driven approach.
  • Risk Management & Compliance Knowledge – Understanding of DOT compliance, FMCSA guidelines, driver qualification standards, and fleet safety programs.
  • Communication & Client Advisory Skills – Ability to communicate complex insurance concepts clearly and professionally to fleet owners and decision-makers.
  • Analytical & Organizational Skills – Ability to review loss runs, pricing, and exposure data while managing multiple accounts, renewals, and submissions.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork – Ability to work closely with Account Managers, underwriting, operations, and leadership to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
  • Professionalism & Accountability – Demonstrated integrity, client advocacy, confidentiality, and accountability in all business activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • 3–5 years of experience in commercial trucking insurance, preferably fleet or large-account focused
  • Strong knowledge of Auto Liability, Physical Damage, Cargo, and General Liability coverages
  • Experience preparing and managing fleet submissions and renewals
  • Familiarity with DOT compliance, safety programs, and fleet risk management practices
  • Active Florida 2‑20 General Lines License (or equivalent, where applicable)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills
  • Proficiency with agency management systems and standard insurance workflows

Preferred

  • Experience working with mid-size to large trucking fleets
  • Existing relationships with commercial auto or trucking insurance carriers
  • Experience collaborating with safety and loss-control programs
  • Familiarity with nationwide or multi-state fleet operations
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding production and retention goals

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with standard business hours or remote office environment
  • Occasional extended hours during peak renewal periods
  • Limited travel may be required for client meetings or industry events

Standard business hours are typically 9am-6pm.
