  • Night Shift, Monday to Friday from 10:00PM to 6:30AM. Subject to change based on business needs.
  • Employees working between 6:00PM and 6:00AM receive an additional $1.70 per hour night shift premium.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Ice Cream Operator for night shift is responsible for performing Clean-in-Place (CIP) and Clean-out-of-Place (COP) activities throughout the Ice Cream Plant to ensure equipment, production areas, and processing systems meet company sanitation, quality, and food safety requirements. This position plays a critical role in supporting plant operations by maintaining sanitary conditions and preparing equipment for production. As the facility expands and production volumes increase, this position will develop into an Ice Cream Production Operator role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sanitation Operations
  • Perform CIP and COP procedures on production equipment, tanks, piping systems, fillers, flavor systems, freezers, pumps, and related processing equipment.
  • Follow established sanitation procedures, chemical usage guidelines, and verification requirements.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble equipment as required.
  • Monitor CIP parameters including temperature, chemical concentration, flow rates, and cycle completion.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections to verify equipment cleanliness and production readiness.
  • Maintain sanitation tools, supplies, and chemicals in an organized and safe manner.

Food Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, SQF, FDA, allergen control, and company food safety standards.
  • Complete required sanitation records, verification forms, and documentation accurately and timely.
  • Support environmental monitoring, inspection readiness, and audit activities.
  • Immediately report sanitation concerns, equipment issues, or food safety risks.

Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Conduct in process quality checks for weight, texture, mix quality, flavor accuracy, and visual appearance.
  • Follow all FDA, HACCP, SQF, and GMP food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Document production, quality, and sanitation data accurately and promptly.
  • Report deviations, equipment issues, or safety concerns immediately.
Equipment & Facility Support
  • Identify and communicate equipment deficiencies or maintenance needs.
  • Assist Maintenance and Production teams during equipment inspections, repairs, and startup activities.
  • Support plant-wide housekeeping initiatives and maintain clean, organized work areas.
  • Verify sanitation equipment and systems are functioning properly prior to use.
Cross-Training & Development
  • Learn production processes and equipment operation throughout the Ice Cream Plant.
  • Participate in operator training opportunities to support future advancement into production roles.
  • Assist production operations when needed and as training progresses.
  • Develop knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment controls, and operational procedures.
Safety & Teamwork
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE expectations.
  • Safely handle sanitation chemicals and maintain compliance with chemical safety requirements.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and leadership teams.
  • Participate in training, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical training in food processing preferred.

Experience:
  • Preferred: Previous sanitation, manufacturing, food production, dairy, or industrial cleaning experience.
  • Experience performing CIP, COP, or sanitation procedures in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience working with production equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to follow sanitation procedures and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work independently during overnight hours.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety.
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately.
  • Basic understanding of chemical handling and sanitation practices.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn ice cream manufacturing processes and equipment operation.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational or business needs.

Physical Requirements:
  • Environmental exposure to warehouses stored at ambient (60-70° F), refrigerated (35° F), and frozen (minus 20° F) temperatures.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for short distances on a regular basis.
  • Subject to up to at least 92db's
  • Lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally
