Requirements & Competencies: A Machine Operator sets up, runs, and monitors roll forming lines and related equipment to produce metal roofing, siding, trim, and structural components to job specifications. They are competent in reading gauge and profile specifications, performing in-process quality checks, and safely operating coil-fed roll forming machinery, with a sound understanding of shop floor safety requirements.


Job Description

Summary/Objective: A Machine Operator / Production Worker is committed to producing quality metal roll formed products by setting up, operating, and monitoring production machinery to exact specifications. The Machine Operator seeks to contribute precision, efficiency, and a team-focused work ethic on the shop floor.


Essential Functions: 

  • Set up and operate roll forming machines, shears, and related equipment according to job orders and profile specifications
  • Load, thread, and feed coil stock into roll forming lines, adjusting rollers and settings for the required gauge and profile
  • Monitor equipment during production runs for consistent quality and identification of malfunctions
  • Measure and inspect formed panels, trim, and components using tape measures, calipers, and other gauges to verify dimensional accuracy
  • Cut, punch, notch, or perforate material to length and specification as required by the job order
  • Perform visual and dimensional quality checks at each stage of production
  • Stack, bundle, band, and label finished product for staging, storage, or shipment
  • Maintain accurate production records, including run counts, footage, and material usage
  • Work as part of a production team to meet daily output targets and delivery schedules
  • Communicate with team leaders, supervisors, and colleagues
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety standards


Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Ability to read and work from job orders and cut lists
  • Practical experience operating roll forming equipment, shears, or similar metal fabrication machinery preferred
  • Ability to accurately use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team


Other Duties: Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. 


Work Environment: This is a hands-on, shop floor role in an active metal roll forming manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a busy production facility, with exposure to noise, metal shavings, and machinery typical of a roll forming and metal fabrication setting. Appropriate PPE will be provided.


Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role is mainly executed on the plant floor. The employee will be exposed to heavy machinery, moving equipment, sharp metal edges, and varying temperature conditions. The noise level in the work environment may eventually be loud. PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed footwear, must be worn in designated areas. No travel is expected for this position.
