Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Position Summary
The Center for Virtual Care Value and Excellence (ViVE) within the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Public Health Informatics Research
The postdoctoral fellow will join an interdisciplinary team working at the intersection of virtual care, digital health, AI-enabled care delivery, and health systems research. ViVE leads multiple federally funded and health system-aligned projects focused on the design, implementation, integration, and evaluation of virtual and hybrid care models.
The fellow will contribute to research examining how digital health tools including telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and AI-supported systems can be effectively integrated into clinical and public health settings to improve care delivery, outcomes, and system performance.
There will be opportunities to work across a portfolio of projects.
The postdoc will lead and support activities related to study design, data collection, data analysis, and manuscript development, and will contribute to grant writing and dissemination efforts. There will also be opportunities to mentor research staff and trainees within the lab.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in public health, health informatics, health services research, or a related health discipline
Demonstrated research experience in digital health, informatics, or health services research
Experience with data collection, management, and analysis (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods)
Knowledge of research regulations and best practices
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary team
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
PhD in a relevant field (e.g., public health, health informatics, health services research)
Familiarity with clinical workflows and/or public health systems
Demonstrated ability to contribute to research projects from design through dissemination
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders including clinicians, researchers, and health system partners
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Training or experience in public health informatics, digital health, or AI in healthcare
Experience with telehealth, remote patient monitoring, or AI enabled care
Experience with large-scale or multi-site research studies
Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and health data systems
Experience with implementation science or evaluation frameworks
Experience with Cancer Research
Prior experience mentoring students or research staff
