Job description

The responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing the Hostess stand, greet and escort guests to tables in the restaurant, work closely with Restaurant staff, maintain a courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to ensure guest satisfaction, and providing the highest levels of service and professionalism. Performing all duties and adhering to the Food & Beverage Service Standards.Ā 


  • Thorough knowledge of Food & Beverage outlet operations including foods, beverages, service techniques, and guest interaction.
  • Be familiar with all the resorts services/features and local attractions in order to assist the guest
  • Greets all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness and maintain positive guest relations at all ties
  • Anticipate the guests needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests; resolve guests’ complaints and ensure guest satisfaction
  • Meet and greet guests as they arrive, offer choice of seating, then escort them to their table and present appropriate food & beverage and wine menus.
  • Effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. Ā This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
  • Explain daily specials to diners, answer questions, and solicit business by promoting the quality of service and food at the restaurant.
  • Receive, record and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant by phone or in person, using a pleasant, clear speaking voice.
  • Read, maintain and make daily entries in OpenTable to coordinate communication between shifts and management.
  • Keep manifest and log into OpenTable to maintain records of guests.
  • Post floor chart and forecast board information.
  • Visually assess room for available tables for the appropriate, even distribution of diners.
  • Assist in the direction of wait help and bus help, ensuring that orders are taken promptly and courteously and that tables are cleared in a timely manner.
  • Organize menu and supply stations with information.
  • Maintain cleanliness of menus and check holders daily and oversee station set ups.
  • Maintain an open line of communication between guests, management and line employees.
  • Answers guest questions about food, beverages, and our facilities accurately and in a friendly manner
  • Provides the highest level of service in accordance with our standards
  • Develops relationships with guests
  • Communicates with food and beverage staff to ensure guest satisfaction

  • Answer outlet phone using correct greeting and telephone etiquette

  • Responsible and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas and proper food handling
  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all food & beverage menu items, including liquor brands, beers, nonalcoholic selections available
  • Maintains complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies/service procedures and standards
  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Hotel & Resort from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position
  • Constantly increasing knowledge of food, beverages, and other products and services
  • Performs related tasks and functions as requested by manager

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of additional supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

Prior Food & Beverage experience required. High school diploma preferred. Ā Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Ā Ability to obtain Food Service Sanitation certification. First Aid and CPR certification preferred. Ā All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available). Ā Ability to converse with guests and employees in English.Ā
