Position Summary
The Grain Handling Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient movement, receiving, conditioning, storage, and shipment of grain. This role supports daily elevator operations including truck receiving, load-out, facility maintenance, equipment operation, and customer service. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Key Responsibilities
Grain Receiving amp; Load-Out
  • Receive inbound grain from producers and commercial haulers
  • Grade, sample, and test grain according to company and industry standards
  • Accurately document scale tickets and load information
  • Assist with outbound load-out of grain to trucks as needed
  • Monitor grain quality, moisture, and condition
Equipment amp; Facility Operation
  • Operate grain handling equipment including conveyors, legs, dryers, and augers
  • Monitor grain bins and storage conditions
  • Perform routine inspections of facility and equipment
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
Safety amp; Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards
  • Comply with DOT, grain handling, and environmental regulations
  • Identify and report safety hazards immediately
  • Participate in safety meetings and training
Maintenance amp; Troubleshooting
  • Perform basic mechanical maintenance and minor repairs
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks
  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly
Customer Service
  • Provide courteous and professional service to producers and drivers
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers
  • Support efficient traffic flow during peak seasons
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous agricultural or grain handling experience preferred but not required
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to operate loaders, tractors, skid steers, and other equipment
  • Strong attention to safety and detail
  • Ability to work extended hours during harvest and peak seasons
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Ability to work in dusty, hot, cold, and outdoor conditions
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
Work Schedule
  • Full-time position
  • Seasonal overtime required during harvest and peak demand periods
