Job description

Construction Administration/ Site Observation/ Field Specialist (3+ years)

SWA is seeking knowledgeable candidates with three plus years of professional experience in landscape architecture or site construction.

Working with us in this role, you may be responsible for:

  • Review proposals regarding fees for technical requirements of a proposed project from schematic design through implementation
  • Preparation of design development and construction drawings/documents, sets
  • Construction administration: review of submittals, shop drawings and responding to contractor requests for information
  • Writing technical specifications
  • Monitoring and reviewing a diverse range of projects under construction and issuing field observation reports
  • Elevating the level of construction quality by working with suppliers and contractors during the field material selection and mock up process
  • Attending and participating in meetings
  • Collaborate with the design team during conceptual design through implementation
  • Prepare opinion of cost estimates

Job location: Dallas, Texas

Requirements:

  • A professional undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited program in landscape architecture, architecture, planning, or urban design or equivalent work experience.

The ideal candidate has:

  • 3+ years professional experience in a design office (landscape architecture, architecture, urban design fields)
  • Broad knowledge base in landscape architectural construction
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently; self-motivation

  • Ability and willingness to travel to review and select materials at their source and perform construction observation services on project sites worldwide
  • Site observation/ construction administration experience
  • Technical understanding or landscape architecture site development elements
  • Regional plant material knowledge
  • Licensure as a landscape architect, planner, or architect, or is in the process of becoming licensed
  • Proficiency in:
    • AutoCAD 2014+
    • Microsoft Office
    • Bluebeam Revu Studio
  • Additional experience with the following is desirable:
    • Revit
    • Hand sketching
    • PlanGrid
    • ProCore
    • Google Earth Pro
    • 3D modeling (SketchUp or Rhino)
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, esp.)
