Job description

POSITION OBJECTIVE

This is an elevated role covering a very robust property with hotel, multiple golf course and private members club oversight. Supervises and directs the financial activities of the resort and golf courses, safeguards the assets, and prepares all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Analyze financial data of operations, in order to advise hotel management and to assist in maintaining an efficient operation.
  • Prepare, review, and present the Monthly Report o Operations.
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets as required(Annual, Revised Annual, Monthly, and/or on Owner's requests).
  • Oversee all contracts and legal agreements, and assist hotel management in maintaining all licenses, permits, insurance and contracts.
  • Establish and audit all internal financial controls, including purchasing, cash handling and disbursements, inventories, hotel equipment, master keys, and associates time records.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
  • Monitor and approve all sales, purchases, salaries and expenses of the hotel.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4 years as DOF/Controller
  • Must have four-year college degree with an accounting/finance concentration.
  • At least eight years of progressive experience in hotel accounting with similar amenities (Club, Golf, Spa, Membership, Health & Racquet, Retail) or related fields.
  • Ideally has multiple F&B outlets, large banquet facilities + golf/outdoor sports department
  • Independent (non-branded) resort experience preferred
  • Florida experience preferred, but not required
  • Require a working technical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and job knowledge of all positions in Accounting, Purchasing, and Food & Beverage control.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of general accounting principles, experience with personal computer, general office equipment and 10 key calculator.
