Job description

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Fulltime
Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCBHS)
Hamilton County, Ohio

Join our mission to help individuals living with mental illness and addiction lead healthy, productive lives. Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCBHS) is seeking a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support our integrated behavioral health and primary care services.

This position works Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours per week) in a clinic-based setting. The role supports both our Injection Clinic and Primary Care office, providing direct nursing care to individuals receiving behavioral health services.

Schedule & Work Location
  • Primary Care Office

  • Clinic-based position (no community visits or client transportation required)

Position Responsibilities

The LPN works under the direction of medical and psychiatric prescribers and/or a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer Long Acting Injectable (LAI) psychiatric medications

  • Obtain and record vital signs

  • Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care labs, and diagnostic testing

  • Administer vaccinations and medications

  • Prepare patients and assist physicians with examinations and treatments

  • Draw and process laboratory specimens

  • Provide medication education to clients, including medication purpose, dosage, side effects, and potential interactions

  • Support patients in understanding the impact of substance use on medications and health

  • Monitor medication adherence, refill schedules, and injection due dates

  • Assess effectiveness of medications and identify side effects or complications

  • Collaborate with the care team to promote holistic healthcare

  • Document medical information including allergies, medical history, and medication interactions

Requirements
  • Active Licensure by the Ohio Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Experience working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders preferred, but not required

  • Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training
