Broadcast Promotion Manager

About the Role
WQED Multimedia seeks a Broadcast Promotion Manager to lead a team creating promotional content for WQED's television, radio, streaming, and digital platforms. This is a hands-on, player-coach role responsible for both creative direction and day-to-day delivery.
The Broadcast Promotion Manager will supervise producers, editors, and motion graphic designers; set priorities; develop campaigns with Programming and Marketing; and personally write, produce, shoot, direct, or edit as needed. The role is accountable for clear, compelling promotion delivered on time and to a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary creative team.
  • Develop promotional strategies for broadcast schedules, local productions, station initiatives, premieres, events, streaming products, and audience-growth priorities.
  • Direct the creation of on-air spots, image campaigns, tune-in promotion, launch campaigns, digital video, motion graphics, station messaging, and underwriting assets.
  • Write, produce, shoot, direct, and edit promotional content as workload and project needs require.
  • Set creative priorities and guide projects from concept through review, approval, delivery, and archiving.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure all projects have a clear objective, audience, message, format, and deadline.
  • Work with the Brand Designer and Marketing Director to consistently apply approved brand identities; direct the Motion Graphic Designer and editors in executing those systems for screen-based content.
  • Manage production calendars, assignments, asset libraries, and approval workflows.
  • Maintain high standards for accuracy, accessibility, consistency, technical quality, and timely delivery.
  • Improve workflows, templates, documentation, and cross-department collaboration to increase the team's capacity and effectiveness.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, evaluate, and manage assigned staff and freelancers.

Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience in television promotion, broadcast creative services, media production, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated success developing and delivering promotional campaigns for television, radio, streaming, or digital media.
  • Strong writing, producing, directing, editing, and visual-storytelling skills.
  • Experience supervising and developing producers, editors, motion designers, or other creative professionals.
  • Strong understanding of video production, post-production, motion graphics, graphic design, and multiplatform delivery workflows.
  • Excellent project-management, organizational, and communication skills, including the ability to set priorities and manage concurrent deadlines.
  • Experience with project-management and digital-asset workflows; familiarity with Monday.com or comparable tools.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and contemporary production tools.
  • Sound editorial judgment and a commitment to public media's mission and standards.

Compensation & Benefits
The annual compensation band for this full-time position is $78,000-$86,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include a PPO health insurance plan; employer-paid dental, vision, disability, and life insurance; and-after 12 months-a 5% employer contribution to a 403(b) retirement plan.
