Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Finance Director is responsible for the financial management and reporting for Columbia Eye Clinic, P.A. (CEC) and Columbia Eye Surgery Center, Inc. (CESC) They are responsible for the planning, implementation and managing of all financial activities, including the establishment of financial policies and procedures, controls, and reporting systems. This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for accounting and financial reporting while overseeing cost and general accounting, as well as all accounts payable functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Responsible for the overall financial leadership of the organization including accounting, financing, reporting, and decision support.
  2. Accountable for all aspects of financial reporting including the timely and accurate preparation financial statements, internal and external reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, preparing Board packages, and facilitating monthly meetings with the Finance Committee.
  3. Oversees CEC and CESC financial and internal controls, ensuring the company’s policies, procedures, and controls are sufficient, well-designed, and properly followed.
  4. Identifies, implements, and reports key metrics that drive performance in an effort to develop opportunities for improved financial and business performance.
  5. Manages CEC and CESC’s relationships with the Board and auditors, ensuring strong working relationships.
  6. Oversees all tax compliance, audit, and financial risk management activities.
  7. Works in collaboration with the Human Resources Manager on payroll and employee benefits administration.
  8. Responsible for capital structure and treasury activities, including cash management, forecasting, funding and debt management.
  9. Develops and maintains data and financial models to support investment decisions and cost savings initiatives.
  10. Contributes to negotiating, managing, and closing all major financial agreements; assist in overseeing the legal function, reviewing, and negotiating of various contracts.
  11. Manages CEC and CESC’s relationships with bankers and auditors, ensuring strong working relationships to include fostering new streams of funding for strategic initiatives.
  12. Provides leadership to the finance team, focusing on continual performance improvement, change management, team development, coaching, and succession planning.
  13. Plays a key role in monitoring the competitive environment to identify key trends and strategic business opportunities.
  14. As a key member of the leadership team, provide overall organizational and business leadership to the growing company, and plays a leadership role in sustaining and evolving the culture.
  15. Supports and collaborates with other Department Managers to support the Operational and Financial objectives of the Company.
  16. Manages the commercial insurance policies.
  17. Works with Human Resources on personnel matters by facilitating the work and documentation on matters including, but not limited to, hiring, staff orientation, progressive discipline, performance improvement, and clinical competencies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Minimum of a B.A. in accounting, finance or other related field. CPA preferred.
  2. 3 - 5 years related experience preferably in a healthcare setting.
  3. 2+ years of management/supervisory experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  1. Excellent customer service skills.
  2. Experience using data management software to manage data and files, calculate and analyze numbers, communicate information and produce documents and reports.
  3. Solid and consistent demonstration of good judgment and discretion regarding highly confidential information.
  4. Must be accurate and detail oriented; possess strong organizational and time management skills; and have the ability to prioritize competing priorities in a complex and fast paced environment.
  5. Competencies include ethical conduct, business acumen, organizational development, performance management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  7. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  8. An ability to prioritize tasks during periods of high activity and demonstrate initiative to seek out projects during low activity periods.
  9. A positive self-motivated, disciplined and results-oriented work ethic will prove equally important in meeting deadlines and cooperating successfully within CEC and CESC.
  10. Ability to use good judgment and maintain confidentiality of information.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
  • Full-time position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
  • Position operates in a professional office environment requiring minimal physical activity.

  • Physical demands include but are not limited to:
    • The ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.

  • Must be able to utilize office equipment such as desktop/laptop computers, copiers, printers, scanners, telephones and calculators.
