Job Summary
Georgia Gwinnett College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Accounting in the School of Business, beginning Fall 2026. We seek a colleague committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, scholarly engagement consistent with AACSB standards, and meaningful service to the department, college, university, and profession.
Responsibilities
Essential Function 1 -
Teach a standard load of undergraduate accounting courses, which may include Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, AIS, Cost/Managerial, Accounting Analytics, and AI in Accounting, depending on departmental needs and candidate expertise. Courses may be during daytime or nighttime hours, Monday through Friday
Essential Function 2 -
Maintain an active program of scholarship appropriate for an AACSB-accredited business school, including peer-reviewed publications and/or other recognized intellectual contributions
Essential Function 3 -
Advise and mentor undergraduate students; contribute to student success initiatives
Essential Function 4 -
Participate in department, college, and university service; support program assessment and continuous improvement aligned with AACSB expectations
Essential Function 5 -
Engage with the profession and community as appropriate (e.g., CPA-related activities, internships, advisory boards, student organizations)
Required Qualifications
  • Doctorate (Ph.D. or D.B.A.) in Accounting (or a closely related field) from an AACSB-accredited institution completed by the start date; ABD candidates with an expected completion date prior to start may be considered
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Demonstrated potential for producing scholarly work consistent with AACSB faculty qualification standards
  • Strong communication skills and a collegial, student-centered approach

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to teach in one or more high-need areas, such as Auditing, Tax, AIS, Data Analytics, Forensic Accounting, AI in Accounting, or Advanced Financial
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., student evaluations, peer observations, teaching philosophy aligned with active learning)
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity (e.g., working papers, conference presentations, publications)
  • Experience with experiential learning, internships, case-based instruction, or engagement with employers and professional partners
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, CIA, CISA, or EA
