Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Failure Analysis Manager to lead and develop a high-performing failure analysis team supporting semiconductor products across external customers, development, reliability/qualification, and yield support. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in electrical and physical failure analysis, combined with strong people leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of failure analysis engineers and technicians, including performance management, hiring, and professional development
  • Own and drive end-to-end semiconductor failure analysis investigations from problem definition through root cause and corrective action
  • Review and approve failure analysis reports, ensuring clear root cause determination and actionable recommendations
  • Apply and guide advanced electrical failure analysis (EFA) and physical failure analysis (PFA) techniques to resolve complex device and system-level failures
  • Partner closely with design, process, reliability,, yield enhancement, and customer-facing teams to resolve yield, reliability, and customer-return issues
  • Establish best practices, methodologies, and documentation standards for failure analysis workflows
  • Support new technology introductions, product qualifications, and reliability improvement initiatives
  • Manage lab priorities, equipment utilization, and external FA vendor engagements as needed
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior technical leadership and customers

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline (Master's or PhD preferred)
  • 12-15 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with significant hands-on failure analysis experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of people management experience, including direct management of engineers
  • Strong expertise in electrical failure analysis techniques, such as:
    • Curve tracing, emission microscopy (EMMI), OBIRCH, LIVA, TIVA
    • Parametric testing and fault isolation

  • Strong expertise in physical failure analysis techniques, such as:
    • Optical microscopy, SEM, TEM, FIB, nanoprobing
    • Delayering, cross-sectioning, and material analysis

  • Proven ability to identify root cause and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with advanced semiconductor technologies (e.g., advanced nodes, high-voltage, power, or mixed-signal devices)
  • Familiarity with reliability testing, qualification standards, and customer return analysis
  • Experience managing FA labs, capital equipment planning, and budgets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including customer-facing presentations
