The Medical Assistant position is responsible for coordinating and assisting the provider to ensure safe quality/cost-effective service and care for the people within the practice population. This position will also be responsible for providing technical clinical services and clerical support for the delivery of quality patient care as directed by licensed staff, a physician, or a mid-level practitioner.
This position will work on-site at: Summit Rheumatology in Gilbert, AZ
Required Work Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collects patient assessment data to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, and current medications for assessment by licensed staff
  • Prepares the patient for provider evaluation by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and procedures
  • Maintains work area, exam treatment, and lab in a clean, safe manner; restock with supplies as needed
  • Assists with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens, collecting, and preparing blood samples for reference lab; labeling all specimens with accurate patient ID as ordered by the physician
  • Documents patient information in the medical record to include updated treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns, etc.
  • Assists and processes all scripts, referrals, and authorizations as needed
  • Manages flow of patient care, while ensuring phones are being answered, and appointments are as efficient as possible
  • Schedules patients for injections and infusions
  • Orders supplies and medications. Check both into and out of inventory
  • Performs diagnostic testing procedures

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
  • Current, active BLS
  • 1+ years of clinic experience
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook
  • Administrative Skills: Demonstrated ability to comfortably relay information to patients in-person and via phone

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current MA Certification
  • EMR / ECW experience
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks
  • Experience working both front and back office of a medical clinic
  • Experience with Prior Authorizations
  • Experience with Insurance Verifications
  • Specialty experience in Dermatology, Gastroenterology or Nephrology

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
