This positionworks closely with reporters and talent in the field to produceaccurateand compelling video content for ESPN's linear and digital platforms.Usestechnicalexpertiseand creativity to deliver expanded shoots, splitshows,or full shows without traditional crew support.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with reporters and talent in the field to produceaccurateand compelling video content that meets or exceeds ESPN's editorial standards.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively with camera crews and other support positions to ensure that everyone in the field is working toward the same goal.

  • Proactively pitches ideas, news angles, writes and edits scripts, formulates questions for anchors in collaboration with show coordinating producers and segment producers.

  • Partners with our assignment desk and digital/social teams to deliver content to all platforms across ESPN's networks and digital properties.

  • Embracesnew technologyin order toenhance storytelling or improve efficiency.

  • Displays strong news judgement and sports knowledge and understands how to frame a story so that it engages the largest possible audience.

  • Builds strong relationships with leaders across ESPN's platforms to understand uniqueshowand platform needs.

  • Displays the ability to ably navigate the changing dynamic of show production, including overseeing split shows and/or serving as thepointperson on a multi-camera shoot.

  • Presents coverage ideas and plans ina timelyfashion to be available for show planning meetings

  • Participates in relevant planning meetings and conference calls to create coverage plans.

  • Coordinates with assignedreportersin researching, preparing, and reporting on news and feature elements.

  • Creates orparticipatesin producing on-air news and features, including communicating with reporters, assignmenteditors,and news editors on both content and logistic details.

  • When working with a hired crew, coordinates the scheduling of field production crews assigned to producing specific features and stories.

  • Reviews and approves all scripts that aresubmittedfrom the field.

  • Interacts with news sources, athletes, leagues and conference representatives and other news makers to gather information and insight for news stories.

  • Participates in resolving issues with technical staff and related production issues.

  • Provides feedback to management and coaching to support the growth and development of fellow producers and reporters.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of7years of progressively complex related studio or related production experience

  • Hasstrongproduction skills related to sporting events

  • Has exceptional news judgement

  • Fluent in social mediaandpopular culture

  • Has anestablished knowledge of sports and sports history

  • Detailed technical knowledgerequired, must have knowledge of what "works" on television and what is realistic toaccomplishin time allotted for show production

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Specific knowledge of television production techniques used in a digital control room

  • Had working mastery of real-time sports news productions processes

  • Commitmentto learningnew technologiesand sharing that information to help the group benefit with new coverage plans

Required Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's degree

The hiring range for this remote position is $107,300 to $174,300 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
