Job description

Overview

Epsilon is looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead a high-impact team building core capabilities for Epsilon Clean Room, our privacy-first data collaboration platform. In this role, you will lead a team of 8-12 engineers and contractors, shape technical direction, partner closely with product and architecture leaders, and help deliver scalable solutions that enable secure, data-rich collaboration for enterprise clients. This role also includes helping shape the engineering foundations for agentic experiences such as intelligent workflow orchestration, AI-assisted user journeys, and automation patterns that improve how customers interact with the platform.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of full-time engineers and contractors, providing clear direction, regular feedback, and support for career growth and performance.
  • Manage team capacity, delivery planning, and execution across a strategic product area, ensuring the team is set up to deliver high-quality outcomes against business priorities.
  • Partner with product management, architecture, and multi-functional partners to define technical direction, align roadmaps, and deliver customer-facing capabilities for a data-intensive platform, including emerging agentic and AI-assisted experiences.
  • Guide the design and delivery of full-stack and data-intensive systems using technologies such as Databricks, Spark, and cloud-native services, with an eye toward intelligent automation, orchestration, and agent-driven workflows.
  • Hire and onboard strong engineering talent, build an inclusive and accountable team culture, and effectively lead a blended organization of employees and contractors.
  • Operate as a player-coach by reviewing architecture and code, removing technical blockers, and contributing directly when the situation calls for it, including in areas related to AI-enabled services, workflow automation, and agent orchestration.
  • Raise the bar on engineering quality, operational excellence, and delivery discipline through strong design practices, observability, continuous improvement, and responsible delivery of AI and agentic capabilities.
Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in an engineering management role.
  • Experience leading software engineering teams in a product environment, including direct people management responsibilities such as coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Experience leading teams that build modern software platforms spanning application development, distributed systems, large-scale data processing, and increasingly AI-enabled or agentic product capabilities.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows and coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar developer productivity platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with big data and data engineering technologies, including Databricks, Spark, and large-scale processing frameworks.
  • Experience building and operating cloud-based platforms, with strong judgment around scalable architecture, reliability, performance, and the operational demands of automation and intelligent system behavior.
  • A player-coach approach with strong communication skills, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to build trust with both senior partners and engineering teams while leading through ambiguity in emerging product areas such as AI and agentic capabilities.

Technology Environment

  • Full-stack applications, backend services, APIs, and customer-facing product experiences
  • Databricks, Spark, and large-scale data processing platforms
  • Cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Modern engineering practices including observability, CI/CD, distributed system design, and evolving patterns for AI integration, agent orchestration, and intelligent automation.
  • AI-assisted developer tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and related coding productivity platforms.

Who Thrives Here

This is a strong opportunity for a technology leader who enjoys building teams, shaping platforms, and working close to the business. If you are excited by the idea of leading engineers, solving complex data and application challenges, and helping scale a privacy-first product in a fast-moving environment, this role offers meaningful scope and impact.
