Job description

HGA is seeking an Operations Manager to lead our Baton Rouge office and enhance our operational efficiency. This role is essential in managing day-to-day operations, overseeing profit and loss, and fostering collaboration between production staff and corporate engineering. The Operations Manager will be responsible for addressing office needs, managing staffing requirements, and maintaining strong client relationships. By implementing corporate policies and ensuring project success, the Operations Manager will play a critical role in driving our business forward and delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the P&L for the office
  • Maintain an annual average of 80% billability for the office
  • Manage the overhead cost for the office
  • Perform day-to-day administration functions.
  • Address and resolve any office related needs/issues, i.e., work hours, hiring and firing, disciplinary reviews, yearly evaluations, office assignments, office furniture, lunch and learns, etc.
  • Provide management of production staff and interface efforts with corporate engineering with respect to workload
  • Coordinate engineering/design efforts with local and corporate engineering group with respect to QA/QC
  • Provide guidance of sales effort and coordinate with business development team, Director of Operations, and Business Unit Leader
  • Work with local Engineering Manager and Project Director to ensure proper utilization of resources, successful project execution, client satisfaction, and high employee morale within the office.
  • Meet regularly with operation leaders in other engineering offices to unsure proper utilization and workshare across all offices.
  • Coordinate with third-party consultants (in-state and overseas) where necessary to establish and maintain working relationships that bolster our ability to augment staff as well as gain competitive advantage
  • Implement corporate policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with respective Corporate Supervisor and/or Upper Management
  • Coordinate and consult with Corporate Human Resources on any administrative issues
  • Oversee all work to know any issues that need addressing with the customer
  • Review weekly Project Management reports that pertain to your projects to resolve any internal/external issues
  • Champion all projects
  • Champion Customers for that office to develop stronger relationships
  • Conduct social interaction with Client(s)
  • Participate in community activities, i.e., civic clubs, Chamber of Commerce, Engineering and Industry Organizationas , to gain good exposure for HGA in the business community
  • Provide daily oversight and coordination of Document Manager/Receptionist
  • Provide daily administrative functions for production staff
  • Attend weekly corporate staff meetings via video conferencing
  • Report any internal or external issues to Director of Operations and Senior Vice President
  • Attend internal project meetings, as required
  • Attend project meetings with Client as possible to obtain a better understanding of their satisfaction and future opportunities
  • Identifiy any opportunities and communicate them to the Proposal Team to include in Proposal Committee review(s)
  • Review and approve all proposals that pertain to your Clients or Proposals being executed out of your office
  • Review and approve all engineering proposal and project budgets that are led by your office
  • Review and approve all PCN's that are lead by your office
  • Review and approve all work orders that are lead by your office
  • Review and approve all project related invoices where you are assigned as the PM
  • Determine staffing requirements and maintain a good balance for the workload
  • Provide guidance and oversight, from a high level, for in-house projects
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. of Engineering degree from an accredited college
  • Minimum of 15 years of full-time engineering experience
