Job Description Summary

The Reman Engineer at Kubota Engine America will play a crucial role in supporting the Remanufacturing Program Manager by focusing on the technical and engineering aspects of the remanufacturing process.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel/gas engine technology and the remanufacturing of diesel/gas engines and components. This position is responsible for analyzing and improving remanufacturing procedures, ensuring product quality, and contributing to the development of innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of our remanufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

-         Evaluate and enhance remanufacturing processes for diesel engines and components, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.

-         Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for potential remanufactured products, including evaluating core returns and material conditions.

-         Create Remanufacturing Specifications ultimately delivering a Complete Bill of Materials

-         Perform core fall out studies, determine best case uses of components

-         Create core collection and acceptance criteria.

-         Work closely with core collection center to achieve and maintain acceptable core levels.

-         Design and implement rigorous testing procedures to ensure that remanufactured engines and components meet or exceed original manufacturer specifications.

-         Collaborate with the procurement team to source high-quality parts and materials for the remanufacturing process.

-         Work closely with the production team to resolve technical issues and minimize downtime.

-         Develop ISO-9001 documentation for remanufacturing processes, including work instructions, process flows, and quality checklists.

-         Stay up-to-date with advancements in diesel engine technology and remanufacturing techniques.

-         Provide technical training and support to the remanufacturing team.

-         Lead continuous improvement initiatives and apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and increase efficiency.

-         Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure clear communication and coordination on projects.

-         Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards and regulations.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-         In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components, systems, and performance metrics.

-         Proficiency in using CAD software for design and engineering analysis.

-         Highly proficient in reading and understanding 2-D engineering prints.

-         Experience with lean manufacturing techniques and Six Sigma methodologies.

-         Proven experience in calculation of manufacturing tolerance stacks.

-         Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work on complex projects with cross-functional teams.

-         Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead projects to completion on time and within budget.

-         Familiarity with ISO quality standards and environmental regulations.

-         Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

-         Microsoft Suite proficiency and Power BI is a plus.

-         Familiarity with remanufacturing industry best practices and standards is preferred.

-         Hands-on experience with CNC machinery, welding, and other manufacturing technologies is preferred.

 

 

Education and Training

-         Bachelorโ€™s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field; a Masterโ€™s degree is a plus.

-         Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or remanufacturing within a related industry.

 

Physical Demands

-         Work is performed in an office environment.  Noise level is moderate

-         Exposure to engine testing labs.  Noise level ranges from moderate to very loud

-         Limited exposure to the warehouse.  Limited exposure to temperature variations when shipping doors are open

-         Regular exposure to vibration and gases, and proximity to moving mechanical parts

-         Handling of potentially dangerous chemicals or other substances, dangerous equipment, and tools

-         Work produced is subject to precise measures of quality and quantity

-         While traveling, will experience noise and comfort levels common to automobiles and airplanes

-         Follow safety guidelines and department and corporate policies and procedures
