Chemist I
Location: Richmond, VA
Pay Rate: $31.75 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

Position Summary
We are seeking a Chemist I to support a leading global consumer healthcare organization in Richmond, VA. In this role, you will perform routine analytical testing and chemical analysis to support product development, quality assurance, and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in analytical chemistry, excellent laboratory practices, and a commitment to maintaining quality and regulatory compliance.
This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career chemists looking to gain valuable experience in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment while working with advanced analytical instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses using classical and instrumental laboratory techniques.
Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation including HPLC, UPLC, GC, dissolution, and UV/Vis systems.
Conduct laboratory testing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and company safety guidelines.
Calculate, analyze, and accurately document laboratory results in compliance with cGMP documentation requirements.
Prepare, review, and maintain laboratory documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical records.
Utilize laboratory software systems such as Empower, LIMS, and Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN) to record and manage laboratory data.
Assist with laboratory investigations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support quality, research, and manufacturing objectives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
0–1 years of laboratory experience in a GMP-regulated environment or equivalent academic laboratory experience.
Basic knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques and laboratory instrumentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to follow written procedures and work independently as well as within a team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
Experience working in a pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare, or regulated laboratory environment.
Hands-on experience with HPLC, UPLC, GC, UV/Vis, dissolution testing, or other analytical instrumentation.
Experience using laboratory software such as Empower, LIMS, and ELN.
Familiarity with GMP, GLP, and cGMP documentation practices.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods while performing laboratory work.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
Comfortable working in a laboratory environment with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to perform repetitive laboratory tasks requiring precision and attention to detail.

Pay Details: $31.75 per hour
