Job description

Company Description
It started with a simple idea: what if surgery could be less invasive and recovery less painful? Nearly 30 years later, that question still fuels everything we do at Intuitive. As a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, our technologies-like the da Vinci surgical system and Ion-have transformed how care is delivered for millions of patients worldwide.
We're a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators united by one purpose: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our work helps care teams perform with greater precision and patients recover faster, improving outcomes around the world.
The problems we solve demand creativity, rigor, and collaboration. The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful-because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life.
If you're ready to contribute to something bigger than yourself and help transform the future of healthcare, you'll find your purpose here.
Job Description
The Engineering Digital, Data Development (D3) Group designs, builds, and deploys medical-grade software, data infrastructure, and applications that enable remote collaboration, device communications, and the collection and analysis of medical device machine data from thousands of systems deployed worldwide.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in networking, product infrastructure, software product releases, and services, and Windows and Mobile platforms. This role operates in a fast-paced, primarily Agile development environment and requires the ability to balance hands-on validation testing, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and collaboration with highly technical peers.
What You'll Do
  • Own the design and development of test plans and protocols for functional software verification of Hub Applications, and Windows & Mobile platforms
  • Perform embedded platform testing
  • Build and maintain detailed test plans, test cases and release test execution plans
  • Execute test cases, document results, and provide clear, detailed verification evidence
  • Support Product Verification and Validation (V&V) activities, including execution and documentation
  • Provide in-depth feedback to Development on requirement and specification clarity to ensure proper test method development
  • Act as a core team member during product definition and design phases, advocating for testability, test tools, and automation considerations
  • Perform and drive root cause analysis, troubleshooting issues across software, networking, and platform layers
  • Ensure timely issue resolution by working closely with Development and escalating issues to internal engineering groups as appropriate
  • Identify product and process improvement opportunities and make actionable recommendations
  • Operate effectively across changing priorities in an Agile environment, balancing hands-on testing with planning, analysis, and collaboration

Qualifications
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline (desired)
  • 5+ years of experience leading Software Quality Assurance programs and strategies
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and QA best practices
  • Understanding of design control and design validation processes
  • Automation development and scripting, such as:
  • Python, batch, shell scripting
  • Jenkins, Mabl or similar CI tools
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, Android and iOS operating systems
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA, test management tools, Postman, network disturbance tools, Selenium, and related QA tooling
  • Technical depth and awareness of industry trends, with the ability to apply them to achieve desired outcomes
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to present and justify positions to all levels of the organization
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making orientation
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • A strong troubleshooting mindset, with the ability to systematically decompose systems to identify failure mechanisms
  • Experience with HIPAA, FDA, FIPS 140-2, and GxP standards.
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required
